A group of modders has released ‘GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition’, making Vice City’s missions, videos and game world playable in the Grand Theft Auto 4 engine.
Initially, the mod project was intended to become playable only for people who owned Grand Theft Auto 4. However, the YouTube channel of modteam Revolution Team, where all the progress made around the project was tracked, was taken offline through GTA owner Take-Two – at least, the modders claim. That is why they have now decided that GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition is playable for everyone on PC.
“Friends, you probably already know that two days before Take-Two Interactive release, our YouTube channel was removed without any warning or attempt to contact us,” said a statement by Revolution Team. “We put a lot of time and effort into this channel, including hundreds of hours of streams surrounding the development of the mod. We have also lost our connection to our international audience, which covers a significant portion of our fans. The teaser trailer of GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition reached over 100,000 views and 1500 comments within a day. Unfortunately, the channel is no longer there and we cannot get it back. “
In response to this situation, the modders have now made the project available to everyone. “We don’t know how long it will remain available or that we will be required to take it offline. We have no objection to people re-uploading the mod, although we cannot publicly encourage it. Do what you think is best. ” Revolution Team has started a new YouTube channel again, where the launcher to be viewed below can be seen. In the description of the video you can also find a link to a torrent for the mod.
Earlier this month a mod was already removed that brought Liberty City to GTA 5. “Due to unexpected attention to our project and after talking to Rockstar Games, we decided to take Liberty City Preservation Project offline.”
